Charitable Purpose

The vision of AIANZ is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. In pursuit of this vision, the mission of AIANZ is to facilitate the best contribution possible in order to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights and to promote all human rights in New Zealand, in the Asia Pacific region, and worldwide.

Entity Structure

Amnesty International (AI) is a movement of 7 million people in over 150 countries around the world. We are a democratic movement, and accountable to our members and stakeholders. Each national section of the movement meets every year and invites its members to speak and engage in any decisions made. Members elect a governance team which we refer to as our Board, and submit resolutions to vote upon and adopt. AIANZ is led by the Board and a senior management team headed by our chief executive.
