Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

a. Provide support to the community and its mothers with new-born’s by providing funds for the purchase of equipment intended for the purposes of breast milk donation. b. Provide support and assistance to community groups who would like to open their own Breast Milk Bank, either financially or by other means such as promotion or guidance. c. Uphold the World Health Organisation’s mandate on breast-feeding matters, called the Innocenti Declaration (1990), that promotes, protects and supports the breastfeeding environment based on the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, Ten Steps to Breastfeeding (in particular step 6): d. Undertake such other activities and provide such other assistance, whether by way of financial assistance/support or otherwise as the Trustees see fit, of a charitable nature for the benefit of the New Zealand in respect of maternity matters. e. Assist mothers who, for whatever reason, are required to bottle feed with an alterantive to formula - donor milk......

Entity Structure

The Trustee members of Mothers Milk NZ elect a Chairperson, Secretary and Tresurer. The Chairperson is also the Co-ordinator and Liason for the facebook page and coordinates the milk between donor and receiving mother. Including any if at all, fundraising. This Role is approxiamately 6-10 hours of volantary time.
